A Life Shaped by Poetry and the Arts
Bertha Lopez Giraldo was born in Manizales, Colombia, and was educated in the capital of Caldas. After completing her studies, she traveled throughout Colombia and overseas performing poetry recitals. She is also a declaimer and studied reciting and dramatic arts at the Teatro Colón in Bogotá, where she performed several times.
Bertha is also an interior decorator and practiced the profession successfully in Caracas, Venezuela, where she lived for 28 years. She now resides in the United States and writes a weekly column for the Spanish Journal in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her published works include poetry, chronicles, and The Man Who Bought His Own Death, and her work has appeared in several Colombian literary anthologies.
