LIBER International Book Fair has become an important meeting place for the Spanish-language publishing world, bringing together publishers, authors, literary agents, booksellers, and other people working with books. In 2025, LIBER welcomed 9,427 professional visitors from 50 nationalities and brought together 248 companies from 13 countries, showing just how far the fair has reached.

LIBER 2026 will return to Barcelona from September 29 to October 1, continuing its role as a major meeting point for the Spanish-language book industry and creating more chances for international business and connections.

When Life Pushes People to Choose
Altruism is the Peterson family and the different paths taken by its members. Davily Peterson is presented as the older brother who has earned a master’s degree in urban policy and works as a policy specialist for the State of New York. His younger brother Webster has a very different life. He dropped out of college and became involved with drugs, with his friendship with Don Farrano, also known as Mayo, becoming one of the biggest problems in his life. Faith, their sister, is also trying to understand what kind of future she wants for herself.
The main setting is New York City in the 1990s, with places such as East Elmhurst and Queens becoming part of the story. The city is not just a background. It helps show the kind of environment the young characters are trying to survive in. Family homes, apartments, streets, schools, workplaces, and other everyday places become settings where the characters face their problems and make choices that affect what happens next.
The idea of altruism, meaning living for the good of others, becomes the heart of the story. Faith begins thinking more deeply about the idea after a difficult experience, while Webster starts to question the life he is living and considers returning to school. The story shows how education, family support, personal responsibility, and the people around us can affect the direction of our lives. It also does not make the characters’ choices simple. They make mistakes, face pressure, and sometimes create new problems while trying to fix old ones. That is what gives the novel its mix of romance, crime, family conflict, and hope.
