Growing up means learning how to deal with people who may not always think or act the same way we do. This, This, This and That: Student Appreciation Techniques for Handling Conflict by Dr. Linda Davis is designed to help eighth-grade students become more aware of what is happening in the lives of people around them, including those outside their own peer groups.
Through short stories and community volunteer situations, the book gives young readers opportunities to think about problems involving bullying, crisis, dignity, and human welfare. Instead of simply telling students what to do, the stories encourage them to examine different situations and consider positive solutions. It also focuses on helping students build confidence when expressing their needs and interacting with people of different ages.
A Career in Education and Student Development
Dr. Linda M. Davis earned her bachelor of science degree in education from Harris Stowe College in St. Louis, Missouri, and her master of education degree from National-Louis University in Evanston, Illinois. She served as a chairperson for St. Louis Accelerated Schools and co-authored Creating a Literacy-Centered Classroom.
In 2012, she published Conflict Mediation: Student Appreciation Techniques for Handling Conflict, a workbook and portfolio for students in Grades 3 through 5. She also received a Doctor of Pastoral Theology degree from Anchor Theological Seminary and Bible Institute in Pharr, Texas, in 2020.
