A Life Built on Service and Exploration
John Doolittle was born and raised in Southern California before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Occidental College, where he met his wife, Nora. He later completed an MBA in Finance at the University of California, Berkeley. His family’s move to Iran in 1978 provided the life-changing experiences that would eventually inspire this compelling memoir.
Throughout his career, John served as a Colonel in the United States Air Force, including active duty and reserve service, while also spending three decades as a senior executive with Pacific Bell. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he devoted thirty years as a National Ski Patroller in the Lake Tahoe region. Today, he enjoys traveling with his wife, golfing, skiing, and sharing the remarkable experiences that have shaped his life.
