From Science to Storytelling
Mel Stave was born in Kansas City, Missouri, before moving to Southern California with his family in 1960. He earned degrees in Zoology and Biology from UCLA, later becoming a researcher in environmental biology before beginning a long career as a high school teacher. He eventually served as the coordinator of the Communications Technology Magnet Center at Grant High School until his retirement in 2013.
A lifelong writer, Mel has explored several genres, including children’s literature, screenwriting, and suspense fiction. He currently lives in Calabasas, California, with his wife, Karen, and their dog, Sadie, where he continues creating stories that entertain and inspire readers of all ages.
