Frankfurter Buchmesse        Frankfurt Book Fair

For decades, Frankfurter Buchmesse has been one of the biggest meeting places for the international publishing world. What started in 1949 with around 200 publishers has grown into a global event where publishers, authors, agents, media professionals, and creative industries come together to share ideas, make deals, and discover what is next for books and storytelling. Today, the fair is considered one of the world’s leading places for printed and digital content.

The fair is valuable because it brings so many parts of the publishing world into one place. It is not only about books on shelves, but also about rights, translations, new partnerships, technology, and the people behind the stories. The 2026 Frankfurter Buchmesse will take place in October, with Czechia serving as the Guest of Honour under the theme “A Country on the Coast.” The programme will include more than 100 literary and cultural events, with 75 Czech authors expected to take part.

With so many countries, voices, and ideas meeting in one place, Frankfurt has become a space where a book can travel far beyond where it first began. That makes this fair a special place for authors who want their stories to reach new readers and new parts of the world.

Among the books that can reach readers looking for guidance and a deeper understanding of faith is Step By Step Discipleship by Fr. Ishaya S. Samaila. This book explores what it means to follow Jesus Christ through everyday actions, not just words or religious routines. It looks at the importance of love, trust, forgiveness, generosity, humility, and service to others. Through reflections on the teachings of Jesus and examples from the Bible, the book gives readers a chance to think about how they can put their faith into practice. Before we take a closer look at these lessons, let’s first get to know the priest and author behind the book.

A Life of Faith That Reaches Beyond the Church

Faith is not only about what a person believes, but also about how that belief shapes the way they treat others. Fr. Ishaya S. Samaila has spent years serving as a Catholic priest, bringing his religious training and experience into his work with people. Born and trained in Nigeria, he was ordained on November 29, 1997. His years in the priesthood have included missionary service in the United States, where he continued his work within the Diocese of Phoenix, Arizona. He also holds a Master’s degree in Pastoral Theology, which supports his understanding of faith, church life, and the spiritual needs of others.

His service in the Diocese of Phoenix has included several pastoral appointments. In 2014, he was appointed Parochial Vicar at St. Mary Magdalene Parish in Gilbert, Arizona. In 2019, he was appointed Parochial Vicar at St. Paul Parish, and in 2024, he was appointed Parochial Administrator of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Bagdad, Arizona. These appointments show his continued role in serving Catholic communities and supporting their spiritual lives.

Learning to Follow Jesus Through Everyday Choices

At the heart of Step By Step Discipleship is a simple but important question: what does it really mean to follow Jesus Christ? The book explains that being a disciple means more than listening to the Gospel or taking part in church activities. It also means putting Jesus’ teachings into action. Love, forgiveness, generosity, humility, and service are presented as values that should guide how people live and treat those around them. Jesus Christ serves as the central example throughout the book, showing readers how faith can be reflected through their daily choices.

Instead of following one fictional character through a traditional story, the book uses biblical accounts, religious reflections, and real-life examples to explain its lessons. Across ten chapters, Fr. Ishaya S. Samaila explores topics such as overcoming temptation, letting go of pride and material concerns, serving others, practicing self-giving leadership, and learning to forgive. The people and stories drawn from the Bible help explain these ideas, from the widow who gives what she has to those who seek healing and guidance from Jesus. The book also looks at the responsibilities of parents, community members, and leaders, reminding readers that their actions can affect the people around them.

One of the book’s main messages is that faith should lead to meaningful action. It encourages readers to look beyond their own needs and pay attention to people who may be struggling, whether they need food, care, kindness, or support. It also asks readers to think about how pride, selfishness, and the desire for power can get in the way of living according to the Gospel. Through its reflections on love, sacrifice, mercy, and forgiveness, Step By Step Discipleship offers readers a chance to examine their own lives and consider how they can become more patient, generous, and willing to serve. Its lessons are especially useful for readers who want to deepen their understanding of Christian discipleship and bring their beliefs into their everyday relationships.

A Guide for Those Who Want to Put Faith Into Practice

Following a faith is one thing, but living by its values every day can be a different challenge. Step By Step Discipleship invites readers to reflect on that difference and consider how small choices can show love, humility, forgiveness, and care for others. Whether readers are looking for personal spiritual guidance or a deeper understanding of Christian teachings, this book offers ideas they can take into their daily lives. Its message is a reminder that discipleship is not only about knowing the words of Jesus, but also about making an effort to live by them.
