Frankfurter Buchmesse        Frankfurt Book Fair

For decades, Frankfurter Buchmesse has been one of the biggest meeting places for the international publishing world. What started in 1949 with around 200 publishers has grown into a global event where publishers, authors, agents, media professionals, and creative industries come together to share ideas, make deals, and discover what is next for books and storytelling. Today, the fair is considered one of the world’s leading places for printed and digital content.

The fair is valuable because it brings so many parts of the publishing world into one place. It is not only about books on shelves, but also about rights, translations, new partnerships, technology, and the people behind the stories. The 2026 Frankfurter Buchmesse will take place in October, with Czechia serving as the Guest of Honour under the theme “A Country on the Coast.” The programme will include more than 100 literary and cultural events, with 75 Czech authors expected to take part.

With so many countries, voices, and ideas meeting in one place, Frankfurt has become a space where a book can travel far beyond where it first began. That makes this fair a special place for authors who want their stories to reach new readers and new parts of the world.

One of those books is the Dutch edition of Inleiding Tot de Wetenschap En de Wetenschappelijke Methode by John L. Campbell. This edition brings Campbell’s discussion of science and the scientific method to Dutch-speaking readers, exploring how science developed, how scientists learn about nature, and how scientific thinking connects with philosophy, logic, mathematics, society, and religion. The Dutch edition was published by Kravitz and Sons LLC on August 24, 2026, giving the book another language and another group of readers to reach.

From Psychology and Research to a Life of Asking Questions

Some authors write because they have one story they want to tell. Others spend years learning, teaching, and thinking before putting their ideas into a book. John L. Campbell belongs to the second kind. His background in psychological research, experimental psychology, statistics, and senior services gave him many years of experience working with information, people, and the way we understand the world.

John L. Campbell earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northeastern University in Boston. He spent more than 30 years working in psychological research, teaching experimental psychology and research statistics, and managing senior services programs. He is now retired and continues to spend time thinking about science, philosophy, history, and other questions about life.

Bringing Science Into a Language More Readers Can Reach

Inleiding Tot de Wetenschap En de Wetenschappelijke Methode is a simple but important idea, science is not only about knowing facts. It is also about understanding how knowledge is created. Campbell explains that the scientific method is more than a list of procedures. He presents it as a general, flexible, and useful way of knowing nature and learning how nature can be used.

The book takes readers through the history and development of science while introducing the roles of observation and reason. It looks at how people developed ideas about nature and how modern science slowly took shape. Figures such as Aristotle, Francis Bacon, René Descartes, Galileo, and Isaac Newton become part of this larger story, helping readers see that scientific thinking did not appear overnight. It was built through years of questions, disagreements, observations, theories, and new ways of looking at the world.

What makes the book especially interesting is how far it reaches beyond the laboratory. Campbell connects science with philosophy, logic, mathematics, society, and religion, while also looking at how science affects society and how society affects science. The book moves through subjects such as empirical knowledge, rational thinking, scientific research, theories, hypotheses, and the difference between scientific and nonscientific views. For Dutch-speaking readers, this new edition gives those ideas another way to be read and understood.

A New Way to Look at Science

Bringing Inleiding Tot de Wetenschap En de Wetenschappelijke Methode to readers through the Frankfurter Buchmesse gives the book another opportunity to reach people who want to understand science beyond simple facts and formulas. John L. Campbell takes readers through the history, ideas, methods, and questions that have shaped modern science, while also showing how science connects with society, philosophy, and religion. For readers who enjoy learning how things work and why people think the way they do, this Dutch edition offers an interesting way to explore the world of scientific thinking.
