Walking Through Roots and Branches
Some books slow you down in the best way possible. One Hundred Species and One Family Tree: My Love Song by William Moldwin blends reflections on trees with the personal roots of family and faith, creating a narrative that is both thoughtful and grounding. It’s not just about the hundred species of trees on his land—it’s about the lessons they carry, the history they hold, and the legacy they inspire.
Each chapter moves between nature’s quiet wisdom and the author’s personal journey, offering readers a glimpse into the connections between ecology, memory, and heritage. The book encourages you to look closer at the natural world, and at the same time, to reflect on your own family tree. It’s calming, insightful, and filled with moments that feel like stepping into a garden of both knowledge and emotion.
The Roots of the Writer
William G. Moldwin is a retired Lutheran pastor, social worker, community organizer, and master gardener. With an MBA and decades of work in raising funds for community projects, his career has always blended practicality with purpose. As the son of Hungarian immigrants, his life has been shaped by resilience, simplicity, and service. Now retired in Sanilac County, Michigan, he devotes his time to tending his land and weaving together the wisdom of trees with the stories of family. This is his first book—a thoughtful debut that reads like both a love letter and a life’s reflection.
