Frankfurter Buchmesse        Frankfurt Book Fair

For decades, Frankfurter Buchmesse has been one of the biggest meeting places for the international publishing world. What started in 1949 with around 200 publishers has grown into a global event where publishers, authors, agents, media professionals, and creative industries come together to share ideas, make deals, and discover what is next for books and storytelling. Today, the fair is considered one of the world’s leading places for printed and digital content.

The fair is valuable because it brings so many parts of the publishing world into one place. It is not only about books on shelves, but also about rights, translations, new partnerships, technology, and the people behind the stories. The 2026 Frankfurter Buchmesse will take place in October, with Czechia serving as the Guest of Honour under the theme “A Country on the Coast.” The programme will include more than 100 literary and cultural events, with 75 Czech authors expected to take part.

With so many countries, voices, and ideas meeting in one place, Frankfurt has become a space where a book can travel far beyond where it first began. That makes this fair a special place for authors who want their stories to reach new readers and new parts of the world.

That makes the Book Fair a special place for stories and creative works that can connect people through ideas, faith, and music. Among the works making that journey is “Moshiach!” – Music To My Ears by Carolyn Luger Vermes. The book grows from Vermes’ years of writing songs while learning from Chasidic teachings, bringing together lyrics and melodies that encourage people of different faiths to think about lovingkindness, peace, harmony, and the coming Era of Moshiach. Before we turn the page and look deeper into the book itself, let’s first get to know the author behind it.

A Life Written Through Music

Some writers use a pen to tell their stories, while others also let music speak for them. Carolyn Luger Vermes has spent years working with both words and music. She holds degrees from New York University and Yeshiva University and previously taught mathematics in the Westchester school system. Her official biography says her creative work draws from family, everyday experiences, current events, spiritual ideas, and imagination.

Vermes is also a singer, songwriter, and composer, with a body of work that includes more than 60 songs. Her creative work has continued through books, recordings, poetry, and music. Her collection Poetry in Motion shows another side of her writing, bringing together poems and lyrics that touch on hope, love, faith, relationships, and everyday experiences.

When Music Carries a Message

At the heart of “Moshiach!” – Music To My Ears is the idea that people can help create a better world through acts of lovingkindness. Instead of presenting the message only through regular chapters, Carolyn Luger Vermes uses songs, lyrics, and melodies to invite readers and listeners to think about faith, goodness, peace, and how their actions can affect other people.

The work does not depend on fictional characters or one specific setting. People themselves become part of the message, with each listener invited to think about their own choices and the kind of world they want to help create. The songs look toward the Era of Moshiach while also focusing on things people can practice in everyday life, especially kindness, love, and care for others.

The sample work “Can it Be?” shows this approach clearly. Its words ask about belief, destiny, love, purpose, and the hope for a time of peace and harmony. Other lines in the collection turn toward responsibility and remind readers that their actions can affect humanity. Together, these ideas make the work feel less like a simple collection of songs and more like an invitation to stop, think, and ask what each person can bring into the world.

Let the Music Carry the Message

Sometimes a message feels different when it is sung instead of simply read. “Moshiach!” – Music To My Ears brings together music, faith, and thoughts about kindness in a way that gives readers something to reflect on while also giving singers and musicians melodies they can play and share.
