When Rescue Turns into Family
Home Is the Very Best Place to Be by Linda Stone is a sweet and uplifting children’s story about love, rescue, and the joy of belonging. It follows Linda on her journey to adopt the perfect pet and ends with her finding not one but two lovable dogs—Bubbles and Teddy. Together they discover that the truest happiness isn’t just in toys, yards, or even treats—it’s in the comfort of a safe and loving home.
The heart of the book is captured in this simple but powerful line:
“Now they are happy, yes, all three. Because home is the very best place to be!”
— Home Is the Very Best Place to Be, p. 24
Love, Rescue, and Second Chances
At its core, Home Is the Very Best Place to Be is a celebration of the bond between humans and their pets. The book shows that sometimes we don’t just find pets—they find us, and in the process, heal parts of us we didn’t know were missing. Children will delight in the colorful illustrations and playful storytelling, while adults will appreciate the deeper message: that love and rescue change lives on both sides.
Linda Stone’s story doesn’t just focus on the joy of adopting pets but on the transformation that comes with it. Bubbles and Teddy go from shelter dogs to cherished family members, and readers see how quickly love and trust can bloom in the right environment. A standout moment in the story is when Linda chooses both dogs instead of one, knowing deep down that love multiplies rather than divides. That decision becomes the turning point that makes the story memorable and meaningful for readers of all ages.
By the end, the message is clear—home isn’t just a place, it’s the love we share within it. This makes Home Is the Very Best Place to Be not just a children’s tale, but a story that resonates across generations.
Creativity Rooted in Home
Linda Stone is an entrepreneur and lifelong creator. For nearly 20 years, she and her brother ran a successful bakery and mail-order Christmas cookie business. Her writing journey began with a vivid dream about her dog, Bubbles, which inspired her first book, Bubbles’ Troubles. Since then, she has continued sharing her love of storytelling and her passion for rescue animals.
