A Journey That Challenged Tradition
Life sometimes leads people down paths they never expected. These paths can come with resistance, questions, and moments where courage is truly tested. Lady Father by Rev. Susan B. Bowman shares a powerful personal story of faith, determination, and answering a calling even when the world pushes back.
The book tells the story of Susan Bowman’s journey through the ordination process in the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia during the 1980s. As the first woman admitted into the process by a bishop who strongly opposed the ordination of women, her experience was filled with obstacles and emotional challenges. Yet within those struggles were moments of growth, faith, and resilience. Lady Father gives readers an honest look into a historic moment in church life while also telling a deeply personal story of perseverance.
